JoAnn (Mott) Reed

  Jo Ann Mott Reed, known as Granny to many, passed away March 4, 2024, at her home in Semmes, AL, at age 84. Jo Ann was born March 20, 1939, in Grove Hill, AL.

  Jo Ann was a hard worker, working at Scott Paper Company for over 25 years before retiring. In her free time, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Jo Ann went out of her way to let her loved ones know just how loved they were, and she was always considering your best interest. She was tough, but you always knew she loved you. Her determination, love, and dedication to her family and friends was evident in the ways she took care of them. 

  She was preceded in death by her husband Herndon Reed, her son David Reed, her father James "Mr. Pete" Mott, her mother, Julia Mott, and all of her siblings. 

 Jo Ann is survived by her son, Robert (Patricia) Reed; her grandchildren: Bayleh Geno (Sammy), Nash Reed, Jordan Reed, Ian Reed, Chelsea Johnson, Christin Glaze (Brandon); great-grandchildren: Jonathan Vickery Jr, Ann Lauren Vickery, Bryson Kibler, Ethan Kibler, Jackson Geno, Lily Geno, Connor Fleming, McKinzie Fleming, Jemma Fleming, and Owen Glaze; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be Monday, March 11, from 10- 11 am for family. Visitation for friends will follow at 11 am and service will begin at 12pm from chapel Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home.
