   Blanche Elizabeth Atchison Maddox, passed away on August 8, 2019.

   Elizabeth was born in Birmingham, Al. on November 11, 1924. At the age of 13 she and her 2 brothers, Howard and Floyd Atchison came to Mobile, Al. as residents of Wilmer Hall. She resided at Wilmer Hall until the age of 16 when she married the love of her life, Herman Maddox. She and Herman continued to live in Mobile and raised their children here.  

  Elizabeth was a former member of Georgetown, Haven Wood, and Moffett Road Baptist Church. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved to travel with long time friends from BellSouth and with MRBC friends George and Ann Lauber, Don and Jane Stringfellow, Jim and Madeline Nash. She loved celebrating holidays with family in Mobile, Trussville, and Logan Martin Lake in Pell City Al.

  She is predeceased by Herman Maddox, her husband of 56 years, sister; Dorothy Garrett (Lewis), brothers; Floyd and Howard Atchison.

   She is Survived by three sons; Charles (Martha) Maddox, Danny (Rita) Maddox, Ronnie (Tammy) Maddox, grandchildren; Ryan (Kristi) Maddox, Casey Maddox, Jada Bearden, Whitney Smith, Clay (Lauren) Maddox, Josh, Jason (Angie), Jacob (Megan) Garner, great grandchildren; Cody, Hannah and Aubrey Maddox, Cohner, Makyla, and Cohen Bearden, Jesse, Mya, and Makynlee Smith, Olivia and Theron Garner.

   The family would like to thank Lakeside Hospice for the excellent care they provided over the last few months.

    Visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, Semmes Al. on Saturday August 10, 2019 from 10:00am to 11:00am with service to follow at 11:00am. Interment in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Wilmer Hall in Mobile Al.
