   Fred Marshall Kelly of Semmes, Alabama passed away in his home surrounded by his family on February 29, 2020. Fred was born on December 2, 1934 to Fred & Ruth Kelly. Fred was a Navy Veteran and served his country as an explosive and rescue team member of the Seabees’ Naval Mobile Construction Battalion two base in Atsugi, Japan during the Korean War.

   After his discharge from the Navy he worked in the mechanical engineering field for many years. He also done work in oceanic engine maintenance, political campaign advisement, owned his own sign business, and volunteered as a bible study leader for former vets with the Volunteers of America Association. He was also an active member of his church, Moffett Road Assembly of God, serving in several areas over the years including the Gatekeepers Security, food preparation for special events and the bread ministry. One of Mr. Kelly’s passions in his later years was ancestral research. He connected with many distant relatives, presented for the Clarke County Historical Association and was readily available to help other researches in any way that he could.

   Mr. Kelly is proceeded in death by one son; Greg Moberg, his parents; Fred & Ruth Kelly, one sister; Ina Lambeth.

  Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife of almost 35 years; Voncile Kelly, two daughters; Laura (Damon) Giammalva of Texas, and Gina Hoffman of South Dakota, son; Chris (Fredna) Moberg of Saraland Alabama, eight grandchildren; Jaymeson, Joey, Josie, Chayce, Emily, Nate, Tyler, and Erin, seven great grandchildren; two great greatgrandchildren, two brothers John (Carol) Kelly and Mitch Kelly, one sister; Francis Broadus, and numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Moffett Road Assembly of God (6159 Moffett Rd. Mobile, Al. 36618) on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 12:00 pm. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery. He had given us food whenever we didn't have much. He went above & beyond for me whenever I had no one else to help. He did alot for me, a complete stranger, Prayers for the family. He will be greatly missed.
