Carolyn Marie (Bates) Saranthus

    Carolyn Marie Bates Saranthus, age 83, of Mobile, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Carl Edward Bates and Voncile Miller Bates.

    Carolyn was married for 67 wonderful years to the love of her life, Harold Saranthus, who preceded her in death by just 12 weeks and 4 days. Their love and devotion to one another were an inspiration to everyone who knew them.

    She was also preceded in death by her son, Harold Saranthus Jr., and her siblings Charles Bates, Gloria Ann McMillian, Darrel Bates, Evelyn Bates, Ronnie Bates, Gary Bates, and Freddie Bates.

    Carolyn is survived by her loving children, Tina N. Rylee, Kenneth (Carrie) Saranthus, and Leigh Ann (Brad) Ward; her devoted daughter-in-law, Charlene Saranthus; and her siblings, JC Bates, Diane Keglovits, Janet Bates, and Janice Bates. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

    Carolyn loved God and her family deeply and served them both faithfully throughout her life. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering faith touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

    Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Missions Department of Life Church of Mobile, 8701 Zeigler Blvd, Mobile, AL 36608.

    A visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
