David Earl Fleming was born on January 24, 1943, and passed on March 3, 2025, in the presence of his loving family. He was 82 years old. David was born in Mobile, Alabama. He has resided at his home in Grand Bay, Alabama for most of his life with his daughter, Dianne Fleming, who has been his caretaker for many years. He retired from Smith’s Bakery after being employed for many years where he did many jobs that included delivering baked goods to various businesses, working on the dock loading trucks, and wherever he was needed. At one time after his retirement, he worked at Walmart as a door greeter.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Flora Youmans Fleming and Malcolm Fleming; his wife, Barbara Ann Giordana Fleming; his brother, Oswell Fleming; sister, Juanita Fleming; nephew, Raymond Edward Hicks.
He is survived by his daughter, Dianne Fleming; son, David E. Fleming, Jr., (Marita Fleming); grandchildren, Anna, Madeline, and Jonathan Fleming; one sister, Dorothy Fleming Hicks (Charles Edward Hicks); nephews, David Carlton Hicks (Theresa Edwards Hicks) and Richard Lawrence Hicks; great nieces, Bridgette Nicole Lee (Brandon Lee) and Lisa S. Hicks; great nephews, David Michael Hicks (Dana Hicks) and Christopher Allen Hicks (Jennifer Hicks) and Edward M. Hicks (Del Marie Hicks); best friend, Buck Dyals; adopted grandchildren; Tyler Newell, Josie Newell and Beckem Arceneaux.
David was a member of More Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, Grand Bay, Alabama for the past 38 years. He and his family enjoyed traveling together on vacations to the mountains and taking cruises. He was a long-standing member and officer of the TOPS Club, Inc. A pastime for David was a good game of cards with friends. The family would like to thank VitalCare Home Health Hospice of Mobile for their loving care of David and support offered to Dianne for the past several months.
Visitation and Service will be held at More Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, 12471 Creel Road, Grand Bay, Alabama, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, with Rev. Shirlon Davis, officiating.
Friends and family visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. followed by interment at Valhalla Memorial Gardens Home 8730 Sims Road Eight Mile, Alabama 36613.
