Deborah Brooks Thompson, age 60, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025. She was born on July 31, 1964, in Mobile, Alabama.
Deborah was preceded in death by her mother Charlotte Ann Scruggs and stepfather James R. Scruggs.
Deborah was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend also known affectionately as "Momma Debbie" to many. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend an ear, brew a fresh pot of coffee, and offer guidance on life's challenges. Her home was a place for those seeking comfort and understanding.
A devoted mother, Deborah cherished her three sons: Daniel Eugene Thompson (Jennifer), Brandon Trey Thompson (Samantha), and Joshua James Thompson (Emily). She poured her love into them unconditionally. She was also a doting grandmother to Dameon, Hannah, Makayla, Brenten, Eli, Stephanie, Shay, and Austin, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Deborah leaves behind her father Redus Wayne Brooks (Angie); aunt, Shirley Mizell (Wayne); brothers, R. Wayne Brooks Jr. (Sharon), Christopher Allen Herrington, Joey James; sisters, Nora Brooks Walker (Brad), and Denise Brooks Kalle (Marc).
She grew up in a small town, deeply rooted in her Baptist faith, which provided a foundation of strength and compassion throughout her life. She also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews: Douglas, Nick, Brandi, Sena, Alex, Alison, Keegan and Joisa.
In her free time, Deborah enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved shopping for clothes, basking in the sun on the beach, and collecting seashells and lighthouses. These hobbies reflected her appreciation for beauty and tranquility.
A celebration of Deborah's life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home, located at 8730 Sims Road, Eight Mile, AL 36613. A chapel service will start at 12:00 P.M. followed by interment at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
