Derrick Leslie Helveston

    Derrick Leslie Helveston, a lifelong resident of Kushla, AL, was born on December 4, 1983, and went to be with Jesus on December 20, 2025. Derrick was preceded in death by his "Granny" Nancy A. Hewett.

    He is survived by his adoring mother, Sherri Bohannon, and his "Dad," Jerry Bohannon; aunt, Terri (Mike) Williams; uncle, Adam (Mary) Helveston; aunt, Toni Coffey; and Kristy (Justin) Crain, whom he loved and considered a sister; cousins, Brittany (Jeffery) Reed, Shayne (Destiny) Coffey, Brandon (Dawn) Vise, Misty Vise, Rebecca Helveston, Bailee (Adrian) Eady, and a beloved best friend, Joey Phelps.

    Derrick loved four-wheeler riding and visiting with people. He is loved by many.

    Pallbearers will be Joey Phelps, Jeffery Reed, Shayne Coffey, Brandon Reid, Michael Alexander II, Roger Alexander, Grant Clark, and Frankie Vise.

    A visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a chapel service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
