Donald Wayne Black, aged 70, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at his only daughter's home in Eight Mile, Alabama, coincidentally on his granddaughter's 4th birthday. He was born on February 6, 1954, in Mobile, Alabama.
Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary and Thomas Black; his two sons, Devin and Kevin Black; his sweet mother, Bertha Black; and his father, Claude Black.
He is survived by his beloved only daughter, Marcia Black; his brother, Ronnie Black; his grandchildren, Jeffery Holley and Kayla Holley; and his great-grandchildren: Cloie Holley, Bayleigh Holley, Gracie Mae Glass, and Annaleigh Holley; nephews, Jason Black, Micheal Black, Danny Black, Darryl Black.
Donald was a first-class painter and a man of many passions. He loved fishing and had a unique way with words that often brought laughter to those around him. In his younger years, he cherished time spent on the water and enjoyed boating. He also took great joy in swimming with his grandchildren. Donald had a deep love for horses and was an outdoor enthusiast who found thrill and excitement in adventures.
Donald was a very headstrong person who taught his grandchildren valuable life lessons. His laugh was contagious, and his smile could light up any room. He had a way of making certain people feel welcome and loved, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was the women's pet and the men's regret.
Donald will be remembered for his love of life, his adventurous spirit, and the joy he brought to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday January 8, 2025, at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. followed by a chapel service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
