Edmonia Marie "Monia" Broussard Covington, 69, of Semmes, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on March 13, 1956, in St. Martinville, LA, Monia was the deeply cherished matriarch known by everyone for her immeasurable love and warmth. Though she proudly raised six beloved children, her heart was limitless, making her a nurturing mother figure to all who knew her. Monia found joy traveling and creating unforgettable memories with her family. Her legacy includes eighteen treasured grandchildren and seven adored great-grandchildren, all of whom felt her unwavering care and compassion.
She leaves behind her loving children, Michael Covington, Jason Covington, Patrick Covington, Kevin Covington, and Angela Gift. Monia is reunited in heaven with her daughter, Heather Covington, who preceded her in passing.
A visitation commemorating Monia's beautiful life will take place on June 20, 2025, at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home in Eight Mile, AL from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. followed by a chapel service at 12:00 p.m.
As Monia lived with true compassion and kindness, we find comfort in scripture, John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
