Edna Verdelia Lowery

   Edna Verdelia Lowery was born on 08\25\1931 and passed away on 08\09\2022. Edna normally called Delia, was the child of Nealie and Annie Mae McElhany both preceding her in death. Delia was a lifelong resident of Semmes, Alabama and a faithful member of Semmes First Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years there. She served as the first traffic director for MGM High School and held the position for 35 years. For most of her life, Delia was what one would call the perfect child, wife, mother and mother-in-law, She was always willing to help others and spent many years taking care of Junior, Jerry, Kevin, Mark and all her sisters and brothers. She could sew well and often made things for the family. She was a great cook and was famous for her barbeque deer meat, fried shrimp and many other dishes. It's no wonder all her boys have expanded waist lines and high blood pressure.

   Edna is preceded in death by her loving husband Wilton Junior Lowery, also her siblings; Nealie Calvin (Edna) McElhany, Zelda Mae (Sonny) Vickers, Grady Lee (Geraldine) McElhany.

   Edna is survived by her three sons; Wilton Jerry (Betty) Lowery, Kevin Andrew Lowery and Mark Dewain (Darlene) Lowery, four sisters; Anne (Earl) Lowery, Patsy (Charles) Kramer, Joyce (Melvin) Pitt, Gloria (Hollis) Ward, four grandchildren, Jenifer Leah (Stephen) Dees, Adam Lane (Amber) Lowery, Lauren Katie (Art) Bowling and Andrea Ellen (Chase) Bullock. a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, friends and other relatives.

  Visitation will be held from Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 10:00 until 11:00AM. Chapel services will follow at 11:00 with interment in Powell Cemetery.
