Ernest Eugene (Gene) Booth, age 76, left this world unexpectedly on the morning of Tuesday, July 16th. He was an avid fishermen and outdoorsman and truly enjoyed being outside in the open air. He enjoyed spending time with his family, was generous with his time and talents, and could often be seen with a cork in the water. He loved sports and spirited card games with family and was competitive by nature. He had a positive impact on numerous lives by coaching youth baseball in the Semmes area. Although he was a man of few words, he will be remembered for his wisdom.
Gene is survived by his two sons, Buddy (Kelli) and Bart (Danielle), two grandsons, Devin and Daniel, and numerous extended family and friends. In death, he is reunited with his wife of 52 years, Brenda, parents Ernest and Carolyn, and sister-in-love Iva (Jerry) Ledbetter.
A visitation for Gene will be held on Monday, July 22nd , 2024, from 5-8 with a celebration of life on Tuesday, July 23rd, beginning at 11 at Valhalla Funeral Home.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the Dippi Outdoors “Kids Crappie Tournament.” This is a way to honor our father’s love of fishing as well as nurturing and supporting the next generation of anglers. Checks can be made payable to Alkeen Dip Mcmillian and mailed to P.O. Box 103, Loxley, Al 36551.
