Esther "Jewel" Harrison Griffith

June 14, 1929 - April 12, 2023

Esther “Jewel” Harrison Griffith, a resident of Satsuma, AL, left this Earth in
the comfort of her home on April 12,2023 at the age of 93, her daughter
Kathryn and son in law Keith by her side. She was in the loving care of her
daughter Kathryn (Keith) and others close to her. “Jewel” was born on June
14,1929 in Neshoba County, MS to Marcus Harrison (father) and Ada
Jewel Harrison (mother) who preceded her in death.
She had four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one
remaining sibling, Leslie Carl Harrison.
“Jewel” was a nurturing homemaker, a loving mother and raised five
children, nieces, nephews and many neighborhood children in Eight Mile,
AL. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Esther Griffith and
one still born son. She is survived by her son, Patrick A. Griffith (Betty),
son, Dana E. Griffith (Martha), son, Larry W. Griffith and daughter, Kathryn
Newell (Keith).
She was a proud “Mammaw” of seven grandchildren. Michael Griffith,
Daphne Mason (Jesse), Kevin Janes (Lydia), Deanna Griffith, Wayne
Griffith, Leslie Pugh (J.D.), Lindsey Tompkins (Tommy) and many great
grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
Jewel will be remembered by family and friends as a loving mother,
Mammaw and an angel on Earth. She was a beautiful person inside and
out. Her smile was so stunning it would light up the whole room. She cared
so deeply for the people around her. She was so kind and passionate. She

made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed. Until we meet
again.
