Evelyn Cassady Pierce

Evelyn Cassady Pierce, 79, was born on July 21, 1942 and entered heaven on September 12, 2021. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the rock of her family and the epitome of a giver. She dedicated most of her life to loving, supporting, and caring for others. 

Mrs. Pierce was her husband’s biggest supporter and partner in all of his business and community endeavors. Together, Melvin and Evelyn Pierce created and successfully maintained  Melvin Pierce Painting, Melvin Pierce Marine Coatings, Melvin Pierce Sandblasting, Highway Maintenance, and Dothan Inc. They also played an integral role in the formation of the Semmes Christmas Parade and the Semmes Regional Library, which named the Children’s Area in their honor. 

Evelyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Eugene Pierce; parents, Alex Cassady and Juanita Jackson Cassady; two daughters, Carol and Reva Pierce; a son, David Cassady, Sr.; her sister, Fay Denton; and three brothers, Ronald Cassady, Danny Cassady, and Daran Cassady. Of all of her accomplishments, she was most proud of her family. This includes her children, George Melvin Pierce, Debbie (Randy) Bishop, David Pierce, Jaly Pierce, and Rihanna Pierce, all of Semmes, AL; two stepdaughters, Regina Andrews and Rebecca Rugart, both of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Tiffany (Travis) Francez, Randy (Bethany) Bishop, Jr., Cory (Colton) Hardin, Melvin C. Pierce, Christiana Pierce, Angela Guy, Billy (Brooke) Cassady, Dallas Cassady, Christiana Prickett, Jonathan Maynard, and Rob Gish; great-grandchildren, Caroline Francez, Travis Francez Jr., Paisley Bishop, Everly Bishop, Jakeleigh Guy, and Kylan Cassady; nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends. 

Visitation will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home from 10 until 11 am. The service will follow at 11pm with Pastor Andric Daugherty officiating. Pallbearers will be: Randy Bishop, Jr., Travis Francez, Les Stamper, Melvin C. Pierce, Tim Mosley, and Tony Nitteberg. Honorary pallbearer will be Eugene Cassady.
