Fern Nelson

    Fern Nelson was born May 29, 1935, and passed away peacefully at her home on
September 9, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents DeWitt and Ada
Shirley, husband Joe Nelson, son Victor Nelson, and grandson Victor Jr.

    She is survived by two daughters: Brenda Sprinkle and Becky Cink, two sisters: Carrol
Chastain and Raven (Joe) Williams, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and
many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
   

    Fern loved Alabama football, reading Catherine Cookson books (some multiple
times) and was always ready to play cards or games. She loved dressing up and
decorating for Halloween as well as Mystery Dinners with her family. Those were
some of her favorite times. She also loved nature. She especially loved flowers,
watching birds build nests, and hummingbirds.
   

    Fern was devoted to her family and babysat her grandchildren and great
grandchildren for many years. She loved attending their games, pageants, and other
extracurricular activities. She loved her big family gatherings and playing bingo
with the “Funshine Club”. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her and
loved her.
   

    Pallbearers: Deryk Cink, Tyler Cink, Victor Cink, Joey Nelson, Randy Nelson,
and Chad Sprinkle.

    Honorary Pallbearers: Butch Sprinkle and Daniel Sprinkle
   

    Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Valhalla Memorial
Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 am. Service in the chapel will begin at 12:00 pm.
