It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald “Mitch” Teeple on April 12, 2026, following an unexpected illness. Born in Flint, Michigan, Mitch was the beloved son of Ellie Blanchard and Jerry Sherman. He spent most of his formative years in Burton, Michigan, where he graduated from Atherton High School. The values of hard work and dedication that he learned early in life shaped the man he became.
Mitch built a remarkable career in the arts, serving as the production manager for the Saenger Theatre for 22 years. His expertise, leadership, and passion were evident in every production he touched. Prior to his work at the Saenger, he was a skilled carpenter and stagehand in his hometown of Burton, MI—roles that showcased his craftsmanship and unwavering work ethic.
Family was the center of Mitch’s world. He was predeceased by his cherished mother, Ellie; his sister, Shawn; his brother‑in‑law, Buddy; and his grandparents, whose memories he held close to his heart. Mitch is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Cathy; his children, Ron Stafford (Brandie) and Jill Thames (Daniel); and his grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy; his stepdad, Fred Blatchford; his nephew, Jeremy Lynd (Brittni), and their two children. He was also a loving “fur daddy,” especially to his loyal dog, Mina, whose companionship meant the world to him.
Mitch’s humor, kindness, and unforgettable antics will be fondly remembered by his many friends and extended family. He touched countless lives with his generosity, his spirit, and his ability to make others feel seen and valued.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mitch found his greatest happiness in life’s simple pleasures—time spent with his grandchildren, quiet moments at home, and the comfort of those he loved most. His life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and a passion for living fully.
A service to celebrate Mitch’s life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Faith Bible Church, located at 4401 Whistler St, Eight Mile, AL 36613. Family, friends, and all whose lives Mitch touched are invited to gather in remembrance.
Mitch Teeple will be profoundly missed, yet forever cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind. May his spirit continue to guide and inspire us always.
