Geraldine O'Neal McElhany

    Geraldine O'Neal McElhany, born August 9, 1942 in Mobile, Alabama departed this life on March 28, 2021. Geraldine was a lifelong member of Crawford Baptist Church. She was an active volunteer, served as a Sunday School teacher, and contributed to many committees for the church. Geraldine graduated from Murphy High School in 1959. In addition to being a loving, full-time home maker, she worked as a nurse's aide at Mobile General and a substitute teacher for Mobile County Public Schools. Some of her greatest joys were shrimping with her husband Grady, sewing, quilting and reading. Above all, she loved spending time with her treasured family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Mildred O'Neal, her sister; Jeannette Albritton, her grandson; Brian McElhany, and her loving husband of 56 years, Grady McElhany. 

    She is survived by a family who will miss her dearly. Her children; Larry McElhany (Janet), Julia McElhany Holub (Lee), Thomas McElhany (Renee), and her grandchildren; Lee McElhany (Stephanie), Jeffrey (Danielle) McElhany, Lindsey Holub Walker (Christopher), Christopher Holub (Samantha), Jeremy Cannon (Heather), Amanda Corley (Scott), Matthew Holub, Tyler Turner, and Colton Turner. She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

   Geraldine's memorial celebration will be held at Crawford Baptist Church on April 1, 2021. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. Service will be at 2:30 PM. The internment will follow in Valhalla Memorial Gardens. Dr. Jay Robertson will officiate the service.

Pallbearers will be Lee McElhany, Jeffrey McElhany, Matthew Holub, Christopher Holub, Chris Walker, Scott Corley, Tyler Turner and Colton Turner.
