Mrs. Idella Guyer Nolen, 90, of Mobile, Alabama and formerly of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away peacefully from this life to the presence of her Savior on January 12, 2024. Mrs. Nolen was born on Nov. 1, 1933 in Decatur, Tennessee. She was a talented seamstress who worked in this capacity a large portion of her life. She enjoyed listening to Southern gospel music, reading books, working crossword puzzles, and having a flower garden. Mrs. Nolen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who, more than anything, loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Snow Road First Baptist Church for many years.
Mrs. Nolen was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Bruce Marshell Nolen, her infant daughter Joyce Elaine Nolen, parents Alice Virginia and James Ruben Guyer, five brothers, five sisters, son-in-law Jan Matheny, and great-grandson Landon Miller.
She is survived by her sons Gary (Dinah) Nolen, David Nolen, Michael Nolen; daughter Allison Matheny and special foster daughter Lee Burkhart. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM with visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 PM from the chapel of Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home with Eld. Jason Matheny and Rev. Kevin Cobb officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Wayne Nolen, Jason Nolen, Ryan Nolen, Josh Nolen, Walker Nolen and Matthew Peacock.
