James Ivy Obituary

   James Edward Ivy, 81, passed away early Thursday morning, October 4, 2023, in Foley, AL. He was born September 6, 1942, to Audrey Louise Boyce Ivy and Elmer Webster “Buck” Ivy, in Mobile, AL., and raised with his loving family in Cotton Mill Village, Prichard, AL. James graduated from Semmes High School in 1961, where he met his beloved wife of 62 years, Sandra Hipsh Ivy. He worked for Scott Paper company from 1961 until his retirement in 1998. James was known for his strength, generosity and kindness to everyone he met, he was also a black belt in karate and practiced this discipline for many years. A champion arm wrestler who enjoyed competition and an avid motorcycle enthusiast.

   James is survived by his wife, Sandra Hipsh Ivy; Daughters, Johnette Deann (William) Nelson, and Katrena Elandrea (Chuck) Darring; Sisters, Mary Jo (Robin Ramsey) Herrington, and Diane Ivy (Mike) Morgan; Brothers, Elmer Wayne (Patsy) Ivy, and Robert Wesley (Margaret) Ivy; Grandson, James David Jones; Great-Grandchildren, Louanna, Giovanna and Frederick. James will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched in so many wonderful ways.

   A "Celebration of Life” will be held in James's honor on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Water’s Edge in Robertsdale, AL.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to James's favorite charity; St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
