It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Leon Lovett, a cherished husband, father, and friend, who left this world on September 1, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on January 29, 1970, in Gary, Indiana, James lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Odette Lovett, who was his partner and confidante through all of life’s journeys. Together, they created a warm and loving home that was a sanctuary for their family. He was a proud father to his daughter, Laura (David) Prager, and stepdaughter, Cali Roberts, both of whom he adored. His love extended to his granddaughter, Isabelle Prager, who brought immense joy to his life and whom he cherished deeply.
James was the son of Betty Lovett, who instilled in him the values of kindness and compassion. He is also survived by his two sisters, Jennifer (David) Lyon and Dana (Chris) Goodwin, who shared countless memories and adventures with him throughout their lives. The bond they shared was a source of strength and support for James, and he will be missed dearly by them.
A celebration of James's life will be held on Thursday September 4, 2025, at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. followed by a chapel service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
As we say goodbye to James, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and the love he shared so freely. He will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear James.
