John Homer Richards 

August 11, 1948 to November 16, 2022

   John H. Richards, age 74, passed away November 16, 2022 at his home in the arms of his wife, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. John H. Richards was the son of late Emma Eloise Richards and the late Hascle Osborn Richards.  He served in the US Army as a military police during Vietnam.  He later became a Fire Fighter for the City of Mobile.  He suffered life altering injuries from an arson house fire that ultimately led to an early disability retirement at the age of 34.  Later in life he became an Assistant Fire Chief for the Georgetown Fellowship VFD of which he proudly served for many years.  His passion and hobbies were working on cars and trucks and anything else that had wheels and a motor.  His greatest joy was spending time with family, spoiling his grandchildren, hunting and camping with family and friends. He is preceded in death by a sister, Claire Weathers Cook and survived by 1 sister and 2 brothers, Louise Weathers Fulmer (Richard), Don Weathers (Ethel) and Thomas Richards.  

    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Pauline McClure Richards, children; Lori G. Richards Smith (Steve), Jessica D. Richards Davidson (Michael), and Virginia T. Richards Fowler, grandchildren; Hannah Richards, Brian Zielinski, Daniel Burnett, Dylan Davidson and Alyson Davidson. 

   The visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 12-1 pm, with Chapel service starting at 1:00 pm and graveside will follow in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
