Johnnie Kay Whatley, 68, passed away on February 13, 2024. She fought hard but sadly lost her battle to cancer at her new home in Wilmer, AL. Born on August 6, 1955, in Mobile, AL, she was the daughter of Theo Mizell and Mildred Roberson.
She is survived by her two daughters whom she loved dearly; Suzanne Mizell and Sarah (Justin) Tanner, three grandchildren; Victoria, Clay, and Gavin Tanner, two great grandchildren; Malakia and Milani.
Johnnie was working at JVC Sandblasting & Painting in S&R when she was diagnosed. Her friendly face might also be remembered from J&J Grocery and Sawyer Furniture for many years. To know Johnnie Kay was to love her. With a heart of gold, she would give anyone the shirt off her back. Her sense of humor was one of a kind and will be missed dearly. She enjoyed a good book, crosswords, and crime TV shows. She also enjoyed hanging with her sisters on the weekends and loved some good chicken wings. She was a sweet soul that will be missed dearly.
Forever in our Hearts
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 2:30 p.m.– 3:30 p.m. followed by interment at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
