Jon David Barfield, 63, passed away with his daughters by his side on December 29, 2022. Born December 21, 1959 in Pascagoula, M.S., he was the son of late Ida Francis Lunsford (Galen Lunsford) and Lowell Barfield.
He graduated from Atlanta High School in Atlanta, Texas. Dave served his country in the U.S. Navy as 3rd class Petty Officer from 1981-1986. He worked at The International Paper Company for 14+ years. He later became a skilled carpenter and contractor, owning his own business, Bomar Construction.
No matter what you called him “Jon David,” “Dave,” or “Jon,” he was an outdoorsman to his core, willing to share his knowledge of hunting and fishing with all he met. He loved a good adventure be it twisting at sunset through the bayou on his bass boat or hiking to a deer stand before the sun. His time spent with friends and family at the hunting camp or outside around a musical campfire are the moments we can still hear his giant laugh break through the crowd.
Dave awaits in heaven for his soulmate, Karla Forbes. His beloved daughters, Jessica Childress (Justin), and Brielyn Barfield (Kayla). His adoring sisters, D’Lynn Barfield, Beni Barfield and his Step-Mother Bobbie Sue Barfield (Lowell). Karla’s children and Mikey, also his family, would like to thank him for lovingly choosing us to serve as a Father, friend and PawPaw.
A Celebration of life for Jon David Barfield will be held at Restoration Church on Saturday, January 14th at 10:45.
(8520 State St. Citronelle, AL 36522)
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a HookedonHopevb.org . An organization that provides a fishing experience and escape on the water for families battling pediatric cancer. Dave’s grandchildren plan to fish this tournament for the 3rd year!
As we say goodbye to Dave, a Father, Brother, Son and Life-Long-Friend, we are reminded that you never know when you’re gonna get the “BIG ONE” … until you do, or it’s gone. We all got that in Dave. He was well worth the hunt.
