Juanita Curry Schaffer, 78, of Eight Mile, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on January 16, 2026, surrounded by family. Born July 27, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama, Juanita spent her life rooted in the place she loved and the family she cherished.
She married her childhood sweetheart, George Francis Schaffer, Jr., on June 25, 1966, in Mobile, beginning a partnership built on laughter, steady devotion, and countless shared memories. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, Juanita’s warmth and steady presence were the center of family life.
Juanita loved fishing, RV camping, and travel — especially trips to the mountains. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, George; their three children, Robert Schaffer (Cheryl), Kimberly Wilson (Richard), and Candy Schaffer (Zane); six grandchildren: Michael Wilson (Christina), Jordan Schaffer (Myra), Matthew Schaffer (Whitney), Mason Wilson (Katelyn), Noah Wallace (Madison), and Tanner Wilson (Hannah); and great‑grandchildren: Audrey, Colt, Brylee, Cameron, Jett, Brayden, and Scarlett. Her family remembers her for her generous spirit, gentle humor, and the quiet ways she made every gathering feel like home.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Juanita’s life Monday, January 19, 2026, at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home, 8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, Alabama 36613. Family visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by public visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
Those who knew Juanita will carry forward the kindness she showed to others and the warm memory of a life lived for God and family.
