It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kinley Michelle Gates, who left this world peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the tender age of 25. Kinley was a radiant spirit whose love for life and passion for music touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
Kinley is survived by her devoted parents, Lee Gates (Cathy) and Angie Cross Baker, as well as her cherished grandparents, Roy Gates (Mary Kay) and Fred Cross III. She was a beloved sister to Leebo Gates (Danielle), Leighanne Daley (Jess), Megan Summerlin (Brandon), Kayleigh Gates, Tara Flint (Justin), and Nolin Young. Kinley’s vibrant spirit will also be missed by her nieces and nephews: Cameron, Isaac, Crimson, Jaxon, Sloan, Emma Claire, Ella, Maverick, Millie, and Lexie; uncles, Joey Gates (Julie) and Scooter Cross along with numerous cousins and extended family.
Kinley was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Jayne Cross, whose memory will forever be cherished by her family.
A true artist at heart, Kinley had a beautiful voice that she loved to share with family and friends. She found joy in entertaining those around her, and her passion for music was evident in everything she did. Whether singing at family gatherings or performing wherever she could, Kinley had a unique ability to bring happiness to others through her art. Her dream of making a mark in the music industry was a testament to her dedication and talent.
Kinley also had a profound love for animals, especially her cherished companion, Gilly. Her kindness and compassion extended to all living beings, and she had a special way of connecting with those around her.
Kinley’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever remember her infectious laughter, her unwavering spirit, and her ability to light up any room with her presence.
A celebration of Kinley’s life will be held to honor her memory on Friday September 5, 2025, at Destination Church 1601 Celeste Rd, Saraland, AL 36571 from 11:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m. followed by a chapel service at 12:00 p.m.
As we say goodbye to Kinley, let us carry forward her love for music and her spirit of kindness. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, dear Kinley.
