Lloyd Wilder, Jr Obituary

Wilder Jr., Lloyd Glynn – A native of Camden, Mississippi, and a longtime resident of Semmes, Alabama, died after a lengthy battle with cancer at his home on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the age of 60.

Glynn, also known as “Egg”, was the eldest son born to the late Lloyd Glynn Wilder, and Patty Laverne Vaughn on December 3, 1963, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Mr. Wilder was married to his wife Melinda Boykin Wilder with whom he shared a life together for over 40 years. He supported his family through work in the heating and air conditioning profession. He was well known in the industry due to his dedication and first-rate work. Often, he would return decades later to a residence or jobsite to replace a unit only to discover that he was the one who originally installed the system. He was employed at Air Specialty and truly respected his bosses and co-workers in the field. As the years passed, he was able to work alongside his son at Air Specialty and pass down those trade skills to him.

He was blessed with two grandsons and a granddaughter. His “tough exterior” would soften whenever his grandchildren were in his presence. Ultimately, his hard shell diminished completely as he surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ during his final weeks of hospice care. This undeniable heart change was witnessed by those who knew and cared for him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jessie Daniel Boykin.

He is survived by his wife Melinda Boykin Wilder, one daughter Brandy Boykin Miller (Dewayne) of Semmes; one son Michael Anthony Wilder (Sarah) of Semmes; one sister Patty Vaughn Wilder Roberts of Carthage, MS; one brother Michael Barfield Wilder (Sandy) of Camden, MS; three grandchildren Christian Michael Wilder, Autumn Leigh Miller, and Landon Brooks Miller; three brothers-in-law Perry Boykin (Betty) of Spanish Fort, Doyle Boykin (Rhonda) of Semmes, and Mark Boykin (Danielle) of Semmes; four nephews Taylor Boykin, Matthew Boykin, Austin Boykin, and Sam Wilder; five nieces Devan Rester, Ashley Boykin, Sarah Barron, Deanna Wilder, and Marie Wilder; five great nephews, and two great nieces.

Visitation will be held from 11 AM to noon at Crawford Baptist Church on Thursday, May 30, 2024, where the service is set at 12 PM. Interment to follow at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home, Eight Mile, Alabama.
