Mark Dwane Lewis, 66, of Eight Mile, AL passed away August 20, 2025. He was born August 22, 1958, in Mobile, AL to the late Hersie Lee Woods and Carlton Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alton Richardson and Greg Lewis; one sister, Regina Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Lewis; four children, Mark Dwane Lewis Jr., Amy Owen, David Lee Lewis, Holley Lewis Collins; brothers, Carlos Gerald Lewis, Charles Dendral (Dink) Lewis, Carlton Lemoyne Lewis, David Clinton Lewis; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mark grew up in a bustling household filled with laughter and love, where his mother’s kitchen was always alive with the aroma of her delicious cooking. Among her many culinary delights, it was the crispy French fries that held a special place in Mark’s heart, a testament to the nurturing bond he shared with his mother. His childhood was a tapestry woven with the threads of family, adventure, and the great outdoors. He spent countless hours playing baseball and basketball, reveling in the joy of friendly competition with his older brothers, who were not only his mentors but also his lifelong friends.
From a young age, Mark developed a passion for hunting and fishing, activities that he cherished deeply and often shared with his father and brothers. He had an innate curiosity for the world around him, which led him to explore the woods in search of antique bottles and old relics, each discovery accompanied by a story that brought his family’s history to life. Mark had a remarkable gift for storytelling, often recounting the cherished memories he created with his brothers, each tale filled with laughter and nostalgia.
As a father, Mark took immense pride in his children and their accomplishments, even when distance kept them apart. His love for them was unwavering, and he always found ways to express his support and encouragement. Mark’s heart was as big as his spirit; he was selfless and generous, often giving of himself even when he had little to spare. His kindness touched the lives of many, and he will be remembered for his ability to uplift those around him.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday August 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Whistler Cemetery, Therrell Annex 3820 W Main St, Mobile, AL 36612.
