Michael Williamson Obituary

Michael Williamson, age 56, a lifelong native of Eight Mile, Alabama left to go fish on Heaven’s shores on November 8, 2022. Michael was surrounded by loved ones at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center as he departed on his journey to his heavenly home.  We know Michael is currently reunited and sitting on a front porch laughing with his mother; Lular Mae Hester, his brothers; James Hilton West and Glenn Williamson, and his mother-in-law; Nina Marie Williams. He is also joined by his grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  To his family, Michael was known to find a solution to every problem. There is nothing he could not do; he was a “Jack of all trades”. However, his problem-solving skills paled in comparison to his love for his family. Michael and his wife, LaDean, always known to him as “peanut” or “peen-bean” met as two children. Many would say they helped raise one another. They had an innate ability to know what the other was thinking. They married on June 25, 1982 and promised to figure this life out together. Their love continued to grow as they had four children; Jennifer, Tracy, Heather, and Christopher, and their love became the standard for a new generation as they became “pawpaw” and “nana” to four grandchildren; Zoey, Taygen, Jackson, and Owen.

Michael’s family and friends have all experienced his humility, generosity, and selflessness. Michael will be missed on many fishing trips and four-wheeler trails, which were hobbies he enjoyed doing with his kids. He will also be missed for his need to wash his truck even on the rainy days, his love for fried catfish dinners, and how he didn’t take fashion cues from anyone, especially on his Alabama attire. He will be thought of fondly every time his sons-in-law need help fixing something, Conway Twitty says “Hello Darlin”, when it’s time to string the lights for Christmas, or when a crisp Coca-Cola is opened.  We know God is pleased to have a great handyman, but more importantly a kind and loving angel back in his arms.

Michael leaves behind those still baiting their hooks; his wife, LaDean Williamson, his three daughters; Jennifer (Al) Cabugawan, Tracy (Jack) Yount, and Heather Williamson, his son; Christopher Williamson, his grandchildren; Zoey Cabugawan,  Taygen Yount, Jackson Yount, and Owen Cabugawan, his bonus daughter; Karen Kay Williamson, his bonus sons; Virgil and Jeremy Williams. He is saving a spot on the river’s bend for many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and bonus children.

Now for those he left behind, he would want you to head out to the lake and cast your rod in his memory. If you mourn for him because he is missing, always remember he has just gone fishing.
