Murdock Larry Thomas, Sr., 75, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on April 22, 2025, in Mobile, AL. He was a man of unwavering integrity. He believed in doing the right thing, even when it was hard. His honesty and strong moral compass were clear in everything he did. Above all things, he was a family man. His love for his wife was a beautiful example of partnership and commitment. His love for his children was evident in all he did. He was always ready to lend advice and encouragement. Larry was a proud service member of the United States Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division, Vietnam Campaign. After leaving the military, he served as a police officer with the City of Mobile and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. Larry answered the call to ministry and served as a Pastor for 25 years, leaving an enduring impact on the church and the community. He left a legacy of selfless service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dianne Fleming Thomas; two daughters, Melissa Thomas Trehern and Ashleigh Thomas Roach (Ronnie); seven grandchildren, Brad Thomas (Jordan), Abigail Porter (Philip), Allison Roach, Hannah Thomas, Caleb Ridderbjelke, Brienne Thomas, Lauren Roach; five great-grandchildren; one sister-in- law, Debra Thomas Rivers as well as countless close-knit nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son Murdock Larry “Bubba” Thomas Jr.; parents, Murdock and Betty Thomas; loving brothers, Richard Thomas and Greg Thomas.

A visitation will be held on Monday April 28, 2025, at Grace Assembly of God 10976 Moffett Rd Wilmer, AL 36587 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. The chapel service will be on Tuesday April 29, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. followed by a graveside service with military honors at Valhalla Memorial Gardens 8730 Sims Rd Eight Mile, AL 36613.
