Oscar Butch Green

   Oscar H. Green better known as Butch was born on February 3rd, 1949, and departed this life on June 27th, 2022, at the age of 73. He was born in Montgomery, AL, grew up in Red Level, AL where he graduated high school in 1967. After which he attended Auburn University where he graduated with a degree in Agricultural specializing in Horticulture. In 1970, he began his career as a teacher and an educator in his chosen path. In 1971, he relocated to Semmes, AL. Soon thereafter, he began his career at Mary G. Montgomery High School in 1971. Remaining there with the department that he and Carter Curry built until he retired from the Mobile County Public School System in 2009. After which, he returned as a mentor to the new teaching staff and the students until 2018.

   He was predeceased by his son, James Anthony (Tony) Green in 1979. Followed by his mother, Louise E. Bell in 2002. Survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Mullins Green. His children: daughter, Kimberly Green Fallis, son Elijah (Kelsey) Clark, daughter, Cheyenne Clark, and son Joshua Clark. His grandchildren: Brittney, Emma Daltyn, Karson, Riah Claire, and Jonas. His great-grandsons: Braxton and Grayson. Further survived by other family members and friends. At the age of 70 he gave his life to Christ, then began attending Calvary Temple Assembly of God. No one that met Butch could ever forget his infectious smile or witty humor. His Saturdays in the fall was spent cheering on his Auburn Tigers. Every other available moment was either spent in the woods or on the water. Butch’s last name suited him well, as everything that he touched grew big and green. It was more than a career; it was his passion. Not only did he enjoy growing plants, but he also enjoyed growing and instilling knowledge in his students.

Pallbearers are beloved family and friends: Aaron Shephard, Bill Donovan, Carter Curry, Mickey Pitts, Ronnie Middleton, and Wesley Young.

Honoring speakers at the services will be Elijah Clark, and dear friend Brother Corley. Brother Perry from Calvary Temple Assembly of God will be doing the services.

He was loved and respected by all.

   Visitation will be held from Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022, from 11:00 until 12:00PM. Chapel services will follow at 12:00 with interment in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
