Pamela V. Lane, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went to be with her Savior on March 20, 2026, at the age of 64. Born in Mobile, Alabama, on July 21, 1961, Pamela was the daughter of the late Donald Lane and Thelma Ruth Creech Lane. From an early age, she demonstrated a remarkable dedication to both her studies and athletics, graduating with honors from High School and College. A graduate of Mary G. Montgomery High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society and a standout softball player, earning numerous academic scholarship offers. She went on to attend Iowa State University. Pamela's life was profoundly shaped by her faith, which began at age 16 when a local pastor visited her home. She remained a dedicated servant of Christ for the rest of her life, a calling that led her on several mission trips to Brazil, where she shared her faith door to door and saw many come to know Christ.
Pamela proudly served her country in the United States Navy for two years as a Cryptologic Technician. In this vital role, she was responsible for analyzing encrypted communications and jamming enemy radar signals, contributing to national security. Her exemplary service was recognized with a Good Conduct Award, a National Defense Service Medal, and an Overseas Service Medal. Following her honorable discharge, she met her lifelong friend, Virginia Stanley (husband: Andy), who remained by her side until her final moments. Pamela then continued her education, graduating from the University of South Alabama with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. This launched a distinguished career with the U.S. government in 1999, which took her across the country and the world, with postings in Colorado, Virginia, Germany, Mississippi, and back to her home state of Alabama.
In addition to being a loving and dedicated grandmother, Pamela was an active and beloved member of her church, Faith Works Baptist Church, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Pam.” Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Donna Gail Freeman, and her aquired son, Andrew Stanley. She is survived by her son, Michael Bradley (Sara); her sister, Kimberly Rogers; her brother, Richard (Dana) Lane; her brother-in-law, Donny Freeman; her five cherished grandchildren: Xavier, Caleb, Emmeline, Sophie, and Isla Lane; her acquired children, Selena (Howard) Chestang and Jack Stanley; her “almost grandchildren,” Grace, Kate, Annabelle, and Caroline Chestang; and a host of dear friends from her church community.
She has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. And although we grieve her passing, we find solace in the hope of Christ’s resurrection and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God’s eternal kingdom.
A service will be held for Pamela at Valhalla Funeral Home on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a chapel service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort.
