Peggy Genelle Adams, a resident of Wilmer, Alabama, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, passed away on December 29, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones by her side at the age of 66. She was born on April 30, 1959, in Chatom, Alabama. She lived a life marked by love, courage, faith, kindness, and unwavering strength. Her heart for others and her devotion to family were the foundation of everything she did.
Peggy Adams was a devoted wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a deep love and passion for cooking, fishing, music, and spending time with her family—especially during cherished family gatherings. She was always willing to help anyone in need, and her presence brought comfort, happiness, and love to all who knew her. Those who knew Peggy will remember her for her warm, bright smile, strong spirit, generosity, sense of humor, and above all, her unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and family devotion that will continue through generations.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband, John Adams; her siblings, Linda Reed, Theresa Overton Lassiter, Patsy Reed; her son, Jason Adams, and daughter, Dakota Adams; her grandchildren, Tristian Adams, Dylan Anthony, Alyssa Adams, Daniel Bennett, London Anthony, Ethan Anthony, and Remi Adams; great-grandchildren, Antonio Gennett and Cecilia Anthony, along with many other family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willa Mae Rivers Reed and Lenzy Albert Reed; her brothers, Mervin Reed, Lonnie Reed, Charles Reed, and Lenzy Reed Jr.; her sister, Becky Sheldt; and her daughter, Jocilyn Hall.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for the public and friends at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a chapel service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
Peggy Genelle Adams will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave so freely and the light she brought into the lives of so many.
