Richard Lyman Bradford, 76, of Wilmer, Alabama was born December 27, 1947, In Montgomery, Alabama, and passed away on September 22, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents; Ernest (Jane C.) Bradford and Sarah Nelle Bradford, two brothers-in-law; David Martin, Bill York, and Mother-in-law: Helen Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Beverly Bradford, two brothers; Ernest H. Bradford, Thomas Bradford, two sisters-in law; Donna Martin, Brenda York, brother-in-law Terry (Karen) Martin, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews by whom he was dearly loved.
Richard was a 1970 graduate of The University of Alabama and a member of The Million Dollar Band. He was a band director in the Mobile County School System for 40 years, teaching at Mary G. Montgomery High School for 15 years and Semmes Middle School for 25 years. He was also a professional musician and French horn player performing in many events along the Gulf Coast for the past 40 years. He touched hundreds of lives throughout his community in his 40 years as a band director. He loved his community, and he dearly loved the students that he taught.
A visitation will be held on Saturday October 12, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
