Richard "Dickie" William Dean resident of Semmes, Alabama passed away on January 13, 2023 at the age of 80, at Providence Hospital. He was born in Mobile, Alabama on January 1, 1943. He graduated from Murphy High School before joining the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, at which time Richard served on the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier. He was employed with the Mobile County Public School System as Plant Engineer and retired after 35 years. Many close friendships were made during this time. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church for the past 37 years. Anyone who knew him, knew he spent most of his time taking care of his farm animals. He was particularly fond of his horse, “Streetwalker”. Richard is preceded in death by his parents Richard Sylvester Dean and Mary Maude Crawford Dean; his sister Barbara Nell Dean; brother-in-law Herbert Hayes; nephews Richard Hayes and Ray Hayes.
He is survived by his brother; Michael Dean (Loretta) and sister Audrey Dean Hayes; former spouse and friend; Rodena Shelkofsky Robinson; children Mary Katherine Dean Lawshe (Phil), Donald Gordan Dean (Shauna), James Dudley Evans (Patti), Fredalyn Evans Stewart (Rick); grandchildren Colby Dean (Caroline), DeAnna Dean Hosey (Shawn), Ethan Jordan, Evan Dean, Stone Lawshe (Anne), Skyler Lawshe, Ryan Stewart (Kelsey), Kamryn Stewart, four great-grandchildren; Emery Hosey, Brookelyn Hosey, Haven Dean, Parker Dean, Niece: Robbin Hayes Heard (Richard), and Nephew; Tommy Hayes.
