Ruby Holloway Loper, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2019
Born in Smithville, MS to Vester and Febie Holloway, she grew up in Hamilton, AL. and spent her adult years in Saraland, AL. Ruby retired from her work as a cafeteria worker at Robert E. Lee Elementary School after many years of faithful service and was a longtime member of Lafitte Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and quilting, but her greatest joys were her family and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Joseph "Joe" Loper. She leaves behind two daughters, Melanie (Jim) Lauder, Marietta, GA and Brenda (Marvin) Johnson of Alabaster, AL; three sisters, Francis Heddings of Hamilton, AL, Mary Carroll of Illinois, and Ollie Childers of Wilmer, AL; Travis Holloway of Hamilton, AL, Bobby Holloway of Kentucky, Dick Holloway of Hamilton, AL and Winford Holloway of Wilmer, AL; six grandchildren, Asher Lauder, Banks Lauder, Caroline Lauder, Trea Johnson, Christopher (Lisa) Johnson and Robin Johnson, six great grandchildren, David Johnson, Natalie Mandell, Collin Johnson, Reagan Stapleton, Brock Stapleton, and Ruby Ann Stapleton.
Visitation will be held at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, March 9th from 10-11am with chapel services to follow. Interment will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
