Sara Annell Shirah

   On Friday, January 13, 2023, Sara Annell Shirah, a loving wife, mother, and Maw Maw passed away at the age of 84. Sara Annell was born on June 2, 1938 in Bibb County Alabama to Rev. Lasco and Sarah Mitchell. She married Julian F. Shirah on November 19, 1957 in Eight Mile, Alabama. They raised two sons, Barry and Darren. Sewing, quilting, pottery, ceramics and raising dogs were her hobbies that she enjoyed. She was a people person and never met a stranger. She attended Trinity Bible Methodist Church in Wilmer, Alabama. She was always inviting people to attend church with her. She lived her life for Jesus and wanted other people to know Jesus also. She is preceded in death by her parents; Rev. Lasco and Sarah Mitchell, one infant brother, one sister, Novia Mae Pennington.

   She is survived by her husband, Julian F. Shirah of 65 years, two sons; Barry (Pam) Shirah and Darren (Jodie) Shirah, 6 grandchildren, Jonathan (Valerie) Shirah, Nathan (Traci) Shirah, Joyce (Matthew) Nation, Neil (Courtney) Shirah, Sarah (Kyle) Turner, Mallory (Josh) Gleason, 12 great-grandchildren, one sister; Eulene Mitchell, nieces and nephews.

   A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, from 5-8 with a service on Thursday, January 19, 2023 beginning at 12:00 at Valhalla Funeral Home.
