In Loving Memory of Sharon Jean Butler

June 10, 1949 – August 13, 2023

   With heavy hearts we announce Sharon Butler passed peacefully at her home in San Diego, CA on August 13, 2023.  She was born on June 10, 1949, to Wilma and Noonan Looney in Laurel, MS.  Sharon lived a life marked by her unwavering and enduring love for her family, children, and grandchildren.  Her grandchildren held special meaning in her life and never missed an opportunity to volunteer at their school or watch them participate in their many activities.  Her commitment to family has served as an inspiration to all of us.

   Sharon was a hard worker all her life and always put her whole self in whatever job she was doing which over time included small business owner, shrimp boat operator, and semi-truck driver.  Her generous spirit was endless.  She was always willing to lend a helping hand and assist anyone in need whether it be her time or money.  She lived an adventurous life that brought her from the Gulf Coast to places like Illinois, Wyoming, and California. But her greatest passion was shrimping at Dauphin Island with her late husband Mathew.  Upon retirement she enjoyed traveling through the U.S in her RV which eventually brought her to San Diego, CA where she resided for the past 17 years with her daughter and family. 

   Sharon is preceded in death by her mother and father; her brothers George Alvin, Robert, and Lee; and her husband Mathew Butler.  Sharon leaves behind her beloved sister Barbara Ball; her children Darlene & Andy Miller, Angie Crabtree & Doug Dockstader, and Louis & Layna Crabtree; her grandchildren, Jerni, Jayda, Louis, Sophie, and Bella; and many nieces and nephews.

   As we say goodbye, let us remember the care and joy she brought to our lives through her lifetime.  She will continue to shine brightly in our memories.  May she forever be a reminder to live a life with kindness and compassion.

Rest in peace, Mother.  You will forever be deeply remembered and missed.

   On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, visitation is scheduled 9:00 am to 10:00 am with the service and burial to follow at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home, 8730 Sims Road, Eight Mile, AL 36613.
