Shirley Francis (Long) Waters

Shirley Francis Long Waters, age 88, of Semmes, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on May 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 9, 1937, in Aliceville, Alabama, to the late Doc Reese Long and Bertha Irene Willis.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, William Edward “Buddy” Waters, as well as her eight brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind a large and devoted family who will cherish her memory, including her five children: Laura Elmore (Paul), Penny Faircloth (Tim), Sharon Wittner (Joe), David Waters (Cheri), and Marvin Waters (Jennifer). She is also survived by her grandchildren: JR Wittner (Nikki), Fran Odom (Phillip), Jason Bullock (Melissa), Jennifer Hill (Derrick), Kyle Waters, Rachel Dorce (Dorly), Tyler Waters, Cory Waters (Melanie), Derek Waters, Raina McRee, and Katherine Faircloth; eighteen great-grandchildren, five great- great-grandchildren, along with extended family members, and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Valhalla Memorial Gardens beginning at 1:00 p.m.
