Terry Lynn Sumerlin

Terry Lynn Sumerlin, 64, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 29, 1958 in Mobile, AL and lived in south Mississippi for most of his life. After working for Chevron Refinery for 30 years, he retired in 2017. Terry enjoyed the outdoors to the fullest spending most of his time hunting, fishing, boating, and camping with his family. He loved to dance and was always ready to have a party.

Terry was preceded in death by his beautiful mother, Louise Sprouse. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Eloise Smith, and uncles, Marion Vaughan, Marvin Vaughan, Carl Vaughan, Robert Vaughan, and Glen Vaughan.

He is survived by his children, Myles Sumerlin and Tera Cochran; former wife and mother of his children, Tina Gunn; granddaughters, Liliana Sumerlin, Hatley Cochran, and Tinley Cochran; girlfriend, Shirley McPherson; siblings, Sharon and Mack Taylor, Karen Ladnier, Steve Sumerlin, Joann and Kevin Quinley, Danny and Cara Waite, and Shane Sprouse and Lisa Necaise; uncle, Donald Vaughan; longtime family and dear friends from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas; special furry companion, Louie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Family visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Valahalla Funeral Home, 8730 Sims Road, Eight Mile, AL. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at noon. There will be a family memorial reception at Semmes Community Center, 10141 Moffett Road, Semmes, AL immediately following the funeral service.
