Thomas A. Broadus, Jr.
October 28, 1930 – September 15, 2023
Thomas Broadus passed away peacefully at home in Mobile, AL on September 15, 2023. Tom was born in Semmes, AL and was known by Tom and T.A. to his family. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1947 and participated in the Berlin Airlift. Tom retired from the Air Force in 1970 and obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Athens State. He went on to teach at Southwest State Tech/Bishop State and retired from there after 23 years. He was a member of Life Church for 45 years and served as an Elder. Tom filled his retired life spending time with family and friends, watching NASCAR races and Alabama football. He was passionate about his family, serving the Lord, and helping others.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Thomas A. Broadus, Sr. and Ona Lee Miller Broadus, his brother Aubrey Broadus, sister Nedra Yoakum, a grandson Dustin Dupre and several others whose memories lived on through his stories of them.
He is survived by his sisters Betty Williams and Delores Hester, his wife Carol, daughters Deborah Broadus Dupre, Jennifer Broadus McConnell and Erin Broadus Sheffield (Ron), a son Bradley Broadus, his grandchildren Reuben, Thomas, Connor, Lauren, Molly, Brittany and Sawyer and many relatives in Alabama, Florida, Texas, Ohio and Oregon.
Services for Thomas Broadus will be held at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 20,2023, with visitation at 11:00 am and service at 12:00 p.m.
