Thomas Joel Lewis, Sr. "Tommy" 63, passed away suddenly January 2, 2022, at the home of his daughter in Semmes, Alabama. He lost his 2nd battle with cancer much sooner than expected. Tommy was born on December 27, 1958, in Mobile, the son of William W. and Edith (Smith) Lewis. Tommy graduated from C.F. Vigor High School, Class of 1977. Following graduation, he immediately entered the workforce as fitter/welder for 43 years. He married the love of his life, MaryAnne, in 1982 and they celebrated 39 years of marriage together. They settled in the neighborhood they grew up in and had two children. Tommy was a loyal and faithful husband, father and employee. He is preceded in death by the grandmother who raised him, Senney Lee Lewis, Mother; Edith Smith Caylor, Father; (Willaim) W.W. Lewis, sister; Melba Chancey, brother; Ricky Lee Lewis.
Tommy leaves behind his wife, MaryAnne (Compton) Lewis, his son; Thomas Joel II and his wife Mary Morgan Lewis, daughter; Emilee Anne Lewis, four grandchildren; Kinslee Grace Lewis, Emma Elizabeth Lewis, Thomas Joel Lewis III, and Macie Morgan Lewis, four sisters; Jean (Rodger) Russel, Janet (Larry) Dame, Wanda (Willie) Sneed, Becky (Dennis) Oliver, one brother; Bill Lewis, brother-in-law; Ralph (Laureen) Compton, one aunt; Dottie (Jim) Jones, many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews, multiple friends; Mike, Scott, James "Scoot", Joey, Reginald, numerous cousins and many others.
A service of remembrance will be held Friday January 14, 2022, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM for visitation at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home at 8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613. The funeral procession will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memorial Gardens. Those who would like to remember Tommy in a special way, if you wish, in lieu of flowers please make donations payable to the immediate family to help with cost since Tommy lost all his insurance when he lost his job.
