William Larry Lacey (Skeet), age 82, a resident of Saraland, AL, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022. The legacy of his loving heart and gentle spirit will remain with those he touched throughout his life. Skeet was born in Mobile, AL on February 15, 1939, and was a graduate of Vigor High School. He worked at International Paper as a Finishing Room Operator and retired after 42 years. Skeet will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and father-in-law. The highlight of his day was sitting in the swing, holding hands with his “Baby” Joanne, their dog Weedle in his lap, watching the birds and listening to them sing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sadie Louise Pierce Lacey and John D. Lacey.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Joanne Brown Cotton, his daughter, Kim Lacey (Todd) Perkins of Mobile, AL, grandchildren Christian Lane Perkins of Philadelphia, PA, and Savannah Clarise Perkins of Madrid, Spain, brother, Charles (Judy) Lacey of Whistler, AL, sister, Cheryl Lacey (Sam) Sumwalt of Covington, LA, and daughter-in-law, Angel Cotton of Daphne, AL, whom he lovingly referred to as his “Suzy Q” and would say his day was not complete until he talked to her every evening. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
A special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of Mobile Infirmary and Saad Hospice Care for their outstanding care, support and compassion in his final days.
