Music by The Piano Brothers

Elizabeth Diane Lloyd Hill-Gardner, age 60, was peacefully called home on Friday, March 1, 2019, at her home in Semmes, AL after a short, but courageous, battle with lung cancer.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents Robert “Bobby” Lloyd and Betty Duiett Lloyd, sister Debra Lloyd Foster, grandsons Brendon and Nicholas Bullington, and her first husband, and occasional pain in the neck, Robert “Bobby” Hill.

Lucky enough to find love twice, she is survived by her second husband P. Wayne Gardner; 3 children, Leslie (Ryan) Bullington, Michael (Sharon) Hill – her favorite, Melani (still available ;) ) Hill, and her beloved Chihuahua, Augustus McRae Hill “Gus Gus”, whom she loved more than any of us; 2 step-children, Monica (Chesley) White and Kevin Neil Gardner; 9 grandchildren, Stephanie Carroll, Alexis Davis, Kasey White, Cade Hill, Christopher Hill, Jackson Hill, Easton Bullington, Christopher Bowick, and Brandi Springston; almost done… 4 great-grand-children, Jayce Carroll, Janson Carroll, Aubreigh Springston and Caroline Bowick; brothers, Johnny Lloyd and Charles Lloyd and sister Theresa Lloyd.

Diane held many titles and played many roles in her short life – daughter, sister, friend, MGM cheerleader, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, business owner, weekend gardener, expert sandwich maker, and lemon pound cake baker. With so much living packed into her short life, it is difficult to say what her greatest achievement was, but with children as awesome and as handsome as hers, we think “mother” would be at the top of her list. Determined not to let cancer get her down, she embraced her final moments with courage and grace that has left us in awe. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten.

Pallbearers will be Raleigh Clark, Scoot Hill, Jeff Keevan, Ronnie Lloyd, Robert Lloyd, and Amber McAdory.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Cade Hill, Christopher Hill, Jackson Hill, and Easton Bullington

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff members of The Mitchell Cancer Institute, University Hospital, and Comfort Care Hospice for the attentive care and the love bestowed upon our beloved mother during her final days, as well as all those who have reached out to us during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. Family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

Following the service, a reception will be held in Diane’s honor at 9020 McNeil Road, Semmes, AL 36575. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
